Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Marilyn at times is a real bully. She tries to bite Bette and Audrey and chases them all over the cage, into the pigloos and PVC tubing, even tries to get under Audrey's blankey and will NOT leave anyone alone. What in the world could the problem be? Marilyn has always been the Alpha piggie and she can be very intimidating. She stiffens her legs so she looks taller and glares with those pink eyes. So I have Audrey and Bette in one half of the pen and Marilyn in the other. They are separated by what was the roof of an old store bought cage so they can see each other but Marilyn can't attack. Each side is 2X3 grids. Marilyn is going to be 2 years old in September. We got her for Christmas in 2005. We got Bette in March last year and she had four babies on July 17th 2006.(pet store piggie) There were 3 boys and one girl. The boys went to good homes (as did Maxine) and we kept Audrey. She just turned a year old. Marilyn doesn't single out one or the other, she just goes after whoever she sees. WHAT in the world is going on? Has she gone goofy? She doesn't do this all the time just whenever the spirit moves her. Full moon perhaps? |

Does she seem to do this for a couple of days or so about every 2-2 1/2 weeks? If so then she's in heat and it's normal. They don't need to be separated unless there is bloodshed. |

She doesn't do it quite that often but I'll bet you're right! I haven't noticed anyone bleeding but they sure don't like it! Are you sure it's OK to leave them together? I would hate to come home one day to a bloody pigger! |

It sounds like normal, dominant behavior to me, and hopefully they'll sort it out eventually. As long as no one is bleeding, you're in the clear. Just make sure that there are as many places for the pigs to hide as there are piggies +1. That gives them a place to be private. By the way, nice names for the pigs |

Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 We have 3 pigloos, a wooden house, a "Y" shaped PVC tube and of course, Audrey has her blankey! Bette likes to lay on it, Audrey gets under it! I guess I will just have to close my ears to the noise they make. Just so it's all normal. Thanks, waytofailself. We wanted unique names for them and Marilyn's long blond hair brought Miss Monroe to mind. The others, Bette Davis and Audrey Hepburn, just seemed to follow naturally! |
