Question about mites

I have heard that petstore pigs usually have mites and I was wondering if my dogs could get them from the pigs.

Re: Question about mites

From that actually very helpful link:

The most common of these parasites will only be found on guinea pigs and are species specific, meaning they cannot be transmitted to people or other species of animal.

Which answers your question since dogs fall under other species.

If your pigs have mites, I'd be more concerned about them than the dog as mites are painful and deadly if left untreated. I think you were advertised to read up on mites and get ivermectin to treat them as soon as you purchased them or have a vet administer ivermectin.
