Question Puberty?

When should a male guinea pig hit puberty? I have two males and the one is older than Cosmo and has already hit puberty. But Cosmo is four months old and still hasnt had the changes to his body like sparky did. I was reading on a few sites and it said he should already went through everything. Should I be concerned, or just give it more time?

Re: Puberty?

I also think it differs from pig to pig. Some pigs hit it earlier then others. I wouldn't be concerned yet. I even think that with some pigs you will barely even notice they are going through puberty. I don't know what websites you read but it sounds like they give out false information. I wouldn't continue trusting the advice given there.

Re: Puberty?

Of my two brothers. One is going through puberty, he is 5 months, and is being a very naughty boy. His brother is having slight changes, but, being the lowest in the pecking order, is not doing much behavior wise.

Re: Puberty?

My male Stevie is around 7 months old and definitely in puberty now. I can tell because his weight shoots up about 60-70 grams every week. He's also pretty mean to his cage mate (who is over a year old) and quickly established himself as dominant.

He first showed signs of rapid growth between 5 and 6 months.
