I concur - throw away your book and the expensive petstore cage you bought and spend lots of time on this site.

There are threads just for newbies about feeding and building a C&C cage. GPs are lots of fun and you'll be very surprized and happy about how much more fun they are when they have room to move and a good diet.

Ask any questions you have - your GPs will definately thank you for it!

I was like you originally here too - bought a couple GPs from a store for my daughter and ended up with a 'pet store bonus' of a baby from one of them. I had the petstore cage and though that pellets was all I needed to feed them (that's what it says on the package, after all...).

Boy was I totally mis-informed! I found this website and figured out the cage was horrible, the diet woefully inadequate, and my petstore bonus experience was very common.

I've taken the advice here and my pigs are very happy and healthy thanks to the info!
