Types (colors) of Cavies? (please HELP!) Ok so I finally found some piggers that will actually work out most likely. ( I am getting 1 or 2 boys) And this is what the lady emailed me and said- 1 is a broken coronet. What is a broken coronet? I know what coronet is I think but what does broken mean? And the 2nd one is A white crested brindle. What is a white crested brindle? I wish people would just use normal colors like brown, black, and white. LOL it is sooo confusing. Anyways can anyone help?

Re: Types (colors) of Cavies? (please HELP!) Well a white crested is a white guinea pig who has a dip-like thing on their head- almost all my piggies have them. Go to my pictures and you will be able to see a few crested guienas. Not sure of the others though, sorry!

Re: Types (colors) of Cavies? (please HELP!) "broken" defines they have no specific color pattern. these babies are usually from litters where the parents are different colors/breeds. for example, my girl is golden agouti, white, and red. she is a broken breed (not tricolor) because her gene coding isnt "pure". do you get it, kind of?????? its hard to explain, but basically, there are both dominant and recessive genes from both parents present in their DNA which means coat colors of broken babies can never be predicted.

Re: Types (colors) of Cavies? (please HELP!) ok, i looked it up. a brindle has red and black hairs all mixed together rather than in patches. in patches would be tortoiseshell.

Re: Types (colors) of Cavies? (please HELP!) have you ever seen a boxer (dog... ) that is like black and light brown all mised up?? That's brindel. Also some cats and other dog breeds have it. Some people say cat's are 'tortishell' but it's the same as brindle I'll have to find a link to a brindle...Here is a great pic od a brindle Abby...very cute!! http://www.loran.karoo.net/cavy/max2.jpg
