Even if the baby is a girl, you can still let them have floor time together until she is 3 weeks old. That would be awesome if you can get the whole family back together. |

You meant the dad and the baby can have floortime together right? Not the mom - who can get pregnant again. If the baby turns out to be a boy, you have the option of neutering the Mom and then they could still all live together. I've heard there's more risk to a female getting neutered than a male, so you might want to check that out before you decide. I too am sad for your loss. It was brave of you to come here and tell your story and admit that what you did was wrong in breeding your piggies. Hopefully others will read your story and change their minds if they want to breed. Your little one is SO cute! He/she reminds me of my little Scruffy - he has the same markings on his head and the sticking up hair - except he's gray, black and white mixed on his body. Enjoy the baby while it's little - it won't stay that way for long!! |

Yes, just the baby and the Dad. Thanks for clarifying that clotho. If the baby is a boy, it would really be better to have him move in with Dad and adopt a new friend for Mom. More than 1 male, intact or not, can cause problems. Once a baby boy goes into puberty, there is a very good chance that he would fight his father, or any other male, for the female's, in this case his mother's, attention. |

Excellent point Percy's Mom - I wasn't thinking about the two male with a female thing when I said that! That wouldn't be a good idea at all. Thanks for correcting me! |

I have three other girls as well, who are just next door to Feria (not with Turtle, of course!), so she will be going in with them if the baby is a boy. I am not worried about introductions because Feria has always been the "peace-maker" type, very sweet and never bothered by other piggies. Which is good because one of my girls is very dominant! I will do a proper introduction on neutral ground, of course, and clean the cage, etc, etc. I'm really hoping the baby is a girl, which is how it looks right now, because then they all can be together and Turtle can be the little Romeo with all his women! |

Just wanted to let everyone know that I took Turtle in today for a checkup and he is very healthy, so we scheduled a date in two weeks to have him neutered! By then I will know for certain the sex of the baby, although I'm 90% certain it is a girl right now. Still deciding on the name... |

That's a sweet name. I'm so glad you're working out the living arrangements so they can stay together. |
