Well my Q-Tipp had a case of the mites ( I've had him for almost 3 months, he's my first ever Guinea pig ). I just got him treated for them, the vet had to shave him () and give him a shot. All though he was a very calm piggy during the whole thing, until the shot of course. He's due to get another shot this Saturday
However, I've read several websites that suggest and even some said some adoptions require you to get 2 guinea pigs.
I don't want my Q-Tipp getting depressed and not eating ( all though there hasn't been any signs ). I'm confident in raising another pig, but I don't wanna get another pig and them not like each other.
Can you give me tips on getting another pig? My current is a male, I suppose I would have to get another male ( though I don't know if they are dominate of their surroundings ). Do most male&male guinea pigs share the same bed? I bought Q-Tipp a extra large Igloo that's more than enough room to fit him + a buddy in. Food isn't a problem, bedding isn't a problem. I don't know about space though. This is the cage I have:

I'm worried that it isn't gonna be enough room for two. Q-Tipp's extra large igloo does take up roughly more than half.. I'm kinda considering downgrading it and getting 2 medium igloos. And I was curious if someone could perhaps point me out a decent sized cage for two guinea pigs on Petsmart.com
Thanks ^_^
Also: Q-Tipp weighs 1.8pounds, he's 5 months old ( I think, when I went to Petsmart the lady said they don't sell piggys until about 3 months old, I've had Q-tipp for almost 3 ). Is this a healthy weight?
