Does anyone have mutiple altered males with multiple females in the same cage. I was wondering if this is possible.
I have heard only one male with a group of females.

I have multiple males in my cage, but only one is altered, and there are two spayed females. It's technically possible, but I would consider it a long shot. I think part of the reason mine has succeeded is because the females are fixed and don't go into heat to rouse the menfolks.
That's really interesting. I've never heard of that, but then again very few people get thier females spayed, it's usually the other way around. I wonder if that would work for other herds?I think part of the reason mine has succeeded is because the females are fixed and don't go into heat to rouse the menfolks.
I have never had this kind of sitation but I do know of someone that had 1 spayed female, a neutered male and an intact male all in the same cage. They all got along wonderfully. Keep in mind though, this situation may not work with all pigs, depends on their personality.
There's a person on gl who has a large herd of altered males/females living together and it works well for them. I know the females have to really outnumber the males or it won't work. You can't really put two altered males in with say 2-3 females. It might work with 2 altered males and 6 or more females. But even that I can't guarantee.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it's been tried a lot. I do know that my males treat the females like you male pups. They don't fight with them, but will chase and squabble with them over food.
I wouldn't spay females just to try a social experiment, since we don't know how well it works. My girls just happened to come from the shelter pre-spayed.
