    Cleaning the cage

[FONT=Comic Sans MS]I'm just wondering what everyone uses when cleaning out their piggy home? I mean with regards to disinfecting the cage. What piggy friendly cleaning fluid do you use?

    Thanks

I spray the coro down with a half water/half vinegar solution and wipe it clean.

Same as fourbwabbys, the best thing is looking at the mess in my bedroom after, it looks like a bag of shaving exploded in here.

Most of us that live in the US use white vinegar to get the calcium deposits out from the bottom of the cage. I think we all have access to white vinegar in the states.

Maybe I'm thinking of the other side of Canada, which is a good possibility.

You would not want to use brown vinegar which is apple cider vinegar. It is sticky and sugary.

    Re: Cleaning the cage

If you havre white vinegar, use that. I have used red wine vinegar in the past when I ran out of white and it works equally, but if you have light coro, it can stain.

    Re: Cleaning the cage

So the white vinegar doesn't make the coroplast's color run? I made a few litter boxes out of coroplast, and I was wondering if I could clean them out using the vinegar+water solution (I use about 20% vinegar + 80% water).

    Re: Cleaning the cage

My cage has bright yellow coroplast, and I use vinegar to clean it, usually diluted about half and half with water. The coro is still as nice and bright as it always was, and the dirty water doesn't have any yellow it in.

    Re: Cleaning the cage

As far as I'm aware, the colour in coroplast is part of the plastic ie. it is not 'painted' on, and will not run. (correct me if I'm wrong!)

    Re: Cleaning the cage

I use a 50/50 white vinegar to water mix, and I've never seen my coroplast run. I have yellow coro as well. As a matter of fact, there was a particularly concentrated spot last time I cleaned, and I used straight vinegar on it.
