more bath questions

Alright well I got piggy bath wash, but now I need just a few questions answered. First off should I put a towel in the sink so he can stand on that? Also do I just use like luke warm water? Do I use a cup and just pour a little water on him at a time? Does he need to stay out of his cage untill he is completely dry? Oh how do I clean his ears? And any other tips would be awesome!

Re: more bath questions

You can put a towel in the sink or tub. Only put a couple of inches of water in the sink or tub. You can use warm water but not too hot. You can use a cup but don't pour water on the head or ears, in fact don't wash the head or ears, you can wash under the chin though. I keep my pigs out of the cage until they are dry, you can use a blow dryer on the lowest setting keeping it at least 12" away from the pig and blow dry your pig. Then give a good combing/brushing when dry.

I use a Q-tip moistened in water to clean the outer part of the inside of the ear. Do not stick anything in the ear canal.

Re: more bath questions

After a protracted incident with an over-excited boar, my girls and his brother had to have a bath. They had a great time, but the best bit was afterwards when my husband came upstairs and asked what I was doing. "What does it look like?" ... "Blow drying the pigs...!" They sat like statues on a towel on the spare bed, just loving the warm air. Offie the abby looked like a poodle for days after, and smelt just gorgeous as the baby shampoo I used was cherry and almond flavour. They are very slippery once you've got them soaped, though, so make sure they can't jump into trouble.

(I was very careful, and they were so sticky that something had to be done rather quickly, but it showed that baby shampoo does work as a one-off if you are desperate. It was only the second bath I've ever given pigs in 25 years - shows how clean they keep themselves. Our blind rabbit needed a bottom-bath at least twice daily.)
