Hello everyone, I have what seems to be a strange question, since I have yet to find the thread talking of this, but, yesterday while I was watching my piggies, I noticed that Brownie kept chasing Truffles in circles when all of the sudden, Truffles stopped, raised her bottom and "squirted" urine right in Brownie's face . Is this normal or something that I should expect from two females? Or does this act mean something I should know? Thanks in advance for anyone who experienced this.Anna |

It's normal for some sows. It could be a dominance thing. One of my vets also said it could be because they like each other, but judging from the situation my Lottie is in when she sprays it certainly isn't an "I Love You" moment! The non-spraying sow will just have to live with being a Pee-Face Piggie. My other three pigs are used to it now and actually back up in panic if they go near Lottie's butt!! They still get caught out sometimes though. |

Females spray other females with urine as a warning. It kinda says, "Hey, get out of my face and leave me alone!". Quite normal. |

Don't you wish you could do that too? Suzi loves to squirt other pigs in the face. And me. The brat. |

Jane squirts anything and everything for the heck of it. She backs into something during floor time, she sprays it, Spaz gets too close, she sprays her, she runs into my foot, she sprays it. |

My Rogue loves to do it too. It makes me laugh because Morgan deserves it for being a brat most of the time. |

Two of my females do it to my neutered male. Needless to say he rarely trys it on wth them any more. |

"Boris, don't give up . . .make your daddy proud" OR "Boy, be a man, I can't believe you are just going to chicken out like that." Their "male bonding sessions" just kill me. |

My spayed female Hannah recently figured out that she could spray pee to make my male, Snickers, leave her alone. Not only does he dislike getting pee on his face, but he then gets distracted by the pee and sniffs it while Hannah runs away. It's very funny to watch. |

Thank you everyone for confirming that I don't have a crazy piggie. LOL. I was watching and apparently this action happens quite often, gave my 13 year old son much entertainment as he quoted "I wish I could do that to my sisters". LOL. Thanks again |

I was shocked when our pig first did that. Our female will do it when you pet her back end (when thats all that is sticking out of the pigloo). It also explained the marks on the side walls of the cloroplast. I was wondering what these pigs were doing at night. |

I watched my GP do this the other day and decided then to look up some info on the forum. After reading this thread the only question I have is how do you clean them off? |

I used a warm damp washcloth on Lynnette when Morganna sprayed her the other day. You don't want to put any soap in their faces. Morganna was being a little punk and sprayed me when I tried to pick her up the other day as well. Her loss. Lynnette got more cuddles that day. |

I have two sows together and I noticed that they do not spray each other but they are frequently urinating like they are marking their territories. This is getting to be more and more frequent. I think I am going to seperate them as the pet store owner said she thought one could be pregnant. |

That's really not a reason to seperate them. If they start fighting and one of them looks like she is about to get injured, then you should seperate. It sounds more like you have 2 at least semi-dominant sows. Unless they are both pregnant, having another sow around while the one is pregnant/in labor/taking care of newborns can be beneficial to help take care of the pups. |
