Hey everyone! First off, my name is Karla and my piggies name is Bardo. He is 4 years old and as long as I can remember he sheds terribly. I just always kinda figured this was normal since he has always done it, but I wanted to ask and see. Is there any way to stop this? And is it normal? Thanks for the help!

my male pig (zodiac) has been shedding also, and i'm not 100% sure, but from what i've gathered it's caused primarily by stress and/or lack of vitamins. cavies cannot store vitamin c, so you have to constantly give it to them either directly through food (fruits and veggies), solid vitamins that you mix with their pellets, or through a water supplement, which is the route i chose. these supplements can be found at almost any pet store, you just put a few drops in their water and you're good to go. hope i could help, and good luck! -mulengro

Petunia sheds all the time when she is being pet. Last night, when I bathed all three girls, she shed like a fiend. The other two had minimal shedding. It could be specific to the pig but I don't think it is abnormal for shedding to occur.

Shedding is perfectly ok. As long as your piggies aren't losing spots of their fur (especially on their bottoms), they should be fine. Hope this helps! =)
