Very cute pigs! However, in the future you will probably want to quarantine (keeping them seperate and watching their behavior) any new guinea pigs for at least 2 weeks incase they have mites or other problems that could carry over to your old guinea pigs.

Where did you get them? They are cute.

It is useless to quarintine now (you REALLY should have).

There is no such thing as a short haired Abby. They look like Americans to me.

Yeah, they both look like short hairs to me but they are so cute and in the future do quarentine first.

Re: Cinncinatti & D.C

I think Im going to get another cage with the money saved up so I can devide Cinncinatti & D.C away from Milkshake and Oreo. They have been
biting each other alot so I think I should split them up.

The cage looks like this...

What do you think ?

Re: Cinncinatti & D.C

You have FOUR guinea pigs in that cage?! That is insanly cramped. No wonder they are fighting!

For $30 you can make a 2x6 C&C that is about 6 times that size. See the homepage. www.cavycages.com

EDIT: That cage has a WIRE FLOOR. Never, ever house pigs on a grid flooring like that.

Re: Cinncinatti & D.C

I agree - you can build a much better cage that is C&C for much cheaper. More room will definately cut down on the bickering with your GPs.

Those carriers are fine for trips to the vet, etc, but not for anything longer than a short car ride for a checkup.

Re: Cinncinatti & D.C

NOOOOO... I would never put 4 gp's in that thing ! ! ! !
Im going to put 2 of them in there.
And Im going to put a bottom to it then Im going to put
bedding down. Then the other 2 are going to stay in the
C&C cage that I have now !!!!!!
I am an animal lover not not an animal cramper !

Re: Cinncinatti & D.C

It's be cheaper for you to just build a small C&C cage for quarentine. I'm building a 2x3 tomorrow for the same purpose. If you don't want to buy the coroplast for the temporary cage you can use a shower curtain. It's cheaper and easier in my opinion.

Re: Cinncinatti & D.C

Wow.. I would say that cage is even way too small for 2, and moreso once you include hidey house space and such.

First off..
Did you introduce all your pigs on nuetral ground?
Are you sure they have enough space? ESPECIALLY boars fight if there is not enough room.

There is no point to quaratine your current pigs now. They've already been with each other.

I think you need to read this---> http://www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm#Introductions
...and then try re-introducing your pigs. Make sure you have them on nuetral ground and that they have enough space.

Re: Cinncinatti & D.C

My GP's are really small once you see them.
They are babies.
I havnt bought the stand up cage yet so I can look for something

Thanx for the shower curtain tip.

In no time, those babies will be full grown and still need the right amount of space.
