Shredded paper

I have shredded paper through my paper shredder which cross cuts. I put some in the girls' cage but they seemed to have eaten it. Has anyone else have this happen with this GPs and will eating the paper hurt them?

Of course they've eaten it! , my pigs eat whatever they can get their mouths on. I don't recommend you letting them eat it, because the dye or ink in the paper may upset their tummy. you never know. I did read somewhere that that wasnt wise, however, i put some paper in my pigs' cage a while back and they seemed fine.
