summer heat and gp's I'm worried that all the heat can be bad for my gp's. Usually I just put the fan on near their cage but I read on here that draft's are bad. I'm not sure, fan or not? The temperature can get to almost 40 degrees (celsius) and I know it bothers me and they have fur coats. My dad says that they're from South America so they don't care but I don't know about that....

I leave the air on low 24/7 in the summer. Heat can be a big problem for piggies and the air just keeps it cool enough. I would think that as long as the fan isn't blowing directly on a piggie it would be fine. Some people wrap frozen bottles or things like that in a towel and place it in or near the cage if the heat is really a big problem. Keep 'em cool!

I agree - I wouldn't have the fan directly blowing on to them, but elsewhere in the room and nearby the cage is fine. As well as the frozen bottles of water wrapped in towels for them to lie against, some kind of stone/ brick area for them to lie on will help keep them cool as will a damp towel draped over the cage.
