Rumlesrutting & mounting out of no where So after two weeks of successfully getting along, Maisey began mounting Bell today. She is just about 6 months old. Is this behavior because Maisey is in heat for the first time (Bell is two according to the rescue) or is she still fighting for domiance. What should I do? They still sleep together at night. I leave for the ocean on Sunday and my sister is caring for them at her house for a week. Any suggestions????

All of the above probably!! You should see it here with 7 ladies. Each day a new one is chasing the others around. |

Re: Rumlesrutting & mounting out of no where Do you think it will safe to let them continue to work it out? There was teeth chattering in the beginning but never any injuries-I kept a close I on them. Do females become more aggressive during this time? Do you think she is more likely to nip Bell? Now I will be worried all night.....I can't believe these is happening right before I am supposed to go on vacation.

Re: Rumlesrutting & mounting out of no where Unless Maisey full on attacks Bell, let them be. It's perfectly normal for sows to reestablish dominance and mount each other when they go into heat. It sounds like that's exactly what Ms. Maisey is doing.

Re: Rumlesrutting & mounting out of no where Sue (the very nice women at the rescue where I got Bell) told me with a laugh that Maisey was a firecracker. Maisey highly disliked the first two guinea's that she met. Bell was and is so sweet tempered that they were a perfect match. What a relief! I will be keeping my eye on them though (and probably calling my sister obessively from the beach. Thank god she is a stay at home mom.

Re: Rumlesrutting & mounting out of no where During the heat cycle, sows love to mount. I go through it quite often having 5 sows. It was even worse when I still had 7 sows.
