Possible Neutering Complication with Hobo? I've already got a call in to the vet to call me back, so I figured I'd also post here and see if anyone had any suggestions. I had my boar, Hobo, neutered approximately two weeks ago. This was done because he had a huge lump in one side of his testicles. When they were removed, the right side was a very large tumor, and the left side was full of fatty tissue. Both sides were completely removed, and the vet told me that the left side had been problematic to close up. He had an abscess removed from the left side on last Friday. It was small, and sterile. Since then, he's continued to gain weight. Here's the weird part... it seems like the stump of the tube that was actually connected to his testicles is poking out through the left side incision and preventing it from healing. It's got a little plastic thingie in it, which I'm assuming is put there to encourage the stump to heal shut. The problem is that the incision seems to have healed 'around' the stump, and left a little round opening for it. I think it's keeping the incision from closing. Like I said, I've got a call into the vet, and Hobo is gaining weight and eating like a monster, and is already on antibiotics, but I didn't know if anyone else had had a similar experience. ![]()

Re: Possible Neutering Complication with Hobo? I'm afraid I haven't had similar experience. I have had neutering complications but they were due to Brownie eating away at himself rather than the neutering itself. Anyhow, I hope Hobo will be fine! At least he is eating!

Re: Possible Neutering Complication with Hobo? I would definitely be a lot more worried if the wound was "nasty" looking or if he was losing weight, but this morning he hit his all-time highest weight since his surgery, so I've got hope.

Re: Possible Neutering Complication with Hobo? We're all keeping Hobo in our thoughts over here. Did you post this on GL? They might be more people with expierences like this.

Re: Possible Neutering Complication with Hobo? I've posted the whole chronicle over on GL, but haven't gotten a lot of feedback, except from Lynx. I was hoping maybe someone over here who didn't frequent there would see it too. Thanks for the thoughts to Hobo. I've been worried sick over him, and feeling awful about not noticing his lump sooner.

Re: Possible Neutering Complication with Hobo? People like me. I hardly have the time to make it over there. I really hope someone can give you some insight here then. And don't blame yourself Jennicat. You're doing everything you can for him and that's all anyone can ask for and more than what most people would do. ![]()

Re: Possible Neutering Complication with Hobo? Well, I spend all day on a computer at work, so have way too much free time on my hands. I realize that not everyone has the luxury. I feel really bad, because before the neuter he was an evil, mean little piggie. I loved him, but I didn't like him all that much. I think that the tumor/fatty tissue were making him produce too much testosterone, because every since the neuter, he's been a lovely sweetheart of a pig, giving kisses and sitting quietly for pets, and just being really loving in general.
