Star unconditional love?

Well I have to say that this is the most interesting question that I have seen on here I am really no expert on Cavy love but if you ask me I would say not really. You have to give them alot of things like treats (espically when you first adopt one) to get your piggy to even come out to meet you. I think that after a while then it will show more "love" to you - the longer you are with it the more your piggy will "love" you.

yeah but how do guinea pigs show their love? I mean a dog will come up to you wagging its tail and lick your face. A cat will purr and rub itself against your leg. What do guinea pigs do to show they love you?

Well, mine wheek and come to the side of the cage when I call their name and make the "treats are on their way" noise. I think that is about as much love as they can show me. They cuddle in my lap and go to sleep. I think that shows love...or the piggie form of love.

We'd have to get into a whole debate on the meaning of "unconditional" to answer that question! I would say, though, that they do love you like dogs do in that if you feed them, groom them, play with them and love them, they'll love you back. My piggie has learned to "kiss" me before I give her a treat. She comes to the edge of her cage and stands up, I give her a kiss on the nose and she nudges me back. Then she gets her treat. They trust you - they'll let you pick them up and hold them and do silly things like kiss them and play with them - and that's how they show that they love you.

Yes piggy love

my piggies show love for me like a dog. whenever i walk in the room they start wheeking and standing up on their hind legs or they stand up on the side of their cage. when i walk around with them in floor time, they like to follow me around.
