I'm not sure about the sounds...I know when my guinea pigs are hungry though! One chirps like a bird! It's a really high squeek and it sounds just like a bird. LOL

My GP makes the chirping noise when she is annoyed at something. She does soft quiet squeaks when she is happy and relaxed. That is about all I can figure out. Good luck

My male GP makes a purring sound when around the females. He is interested in a sweetheart!!! Wink, Wink! Don't worry, he is neutered!

Here's my sounds page http://www.treenspigs.com/fun/media.html - some sound clips (including wheeking, purring and chirping) and the reasons they might make them. A lot of understanding what's a good noise and what isn't is to do with looking at their body language. Some noises can seem quite similar until you get used to them all, but looking at whether they are relaxed (soft body, stretched out etc) or tense/ unhappy (rigid body, biting down, head held up etc) really helps work it out.

I just looked at that web site, I was intorested to see what the sounds mean. I played the very first one ( the one that ment feed me, give me attention). As soon as I played the sound my guinea pig stuck its head out of its house and starts to squeek too. It was so funny! ![]()

LMAO! The very first sound named as "Chas Wheeks - 109kb" is the very same sound that Xander makes that I was talking about in my first post!

The 'purring' noise sounds so similar to the 'rumble' noise they make when irratated.. My new Guinea Pig made that noise a lot when he was settling into our 'noisy' room, although my other Guinea Pig has gotten used to everything by now :P
