Question peculiar piggie

I have a 2 year old female, Charlotte, who has started rumbling around her cage and swaying her behind, at first I thought it was perhaps just PMS, but it has continued for a few weeks. She doesn't seem to be in distress, and she's eating and drinking regularly. Is there such a thing as guinea pig menopause? could this be the problem?

Re: peculiar piggie

She's just rumblestrutting, it's normal, although my girls usually only go through that phase for about one week out of the month. Do you have any other pigs in the cage with her?

Re: peculiar piggie

Hormonal behavior such as that is normal during heat, but heat usually lasts only 2 or 3 days. If this behavior is constant for weeks, and especially if she has any other symptoms of reproductive problems such as cysts (crusty and/or enlarged nipples, hair loss, weight loss and/or redistribution to a "pear" shape, vaginal discharge or bleeding), she should be ultrasounded to test for cysts or other reproductive problems.
