| Also he is acting very nervous and very shy. This is probably because I just brought him home yesterday, right? And (I know, I'm almost done) I have a curious cat. What is a good way to introduce the Pig to the Cat? The cat's name is Paiger and the pig as you know is Happy. Thank you! |

| Re: New piggy questions. Cats. Food. New home. Welcome to pig slavedom! First off, nix the sprouts. They have a tendency to get moldy and well, that's just not good. The best thing you could do for Happy is get him a buddy, possibly adopt and older guy, one that already knows the ropes. An older buddy will teach him what the good stuff is. As for the nervousness, that will ease up with time. Since guinea pigs are prey animals they are naturally skiddish. Time and trust building is the key. Offer veggies or bits of fruit during lap time. Approaching the cage calmly. Just be patient. As for the cat, let her just look, but be right there. Don't leave them unsupervised, some cats are predatory while others couldn't care less. So make sure that your cage is cat proof. If you are using a c&c cage that is easily done with wire shelving sections add for a top. Good luck! |
