How long have you had your first pig? If you have it for long enough and proove that you can take care of it I bet your parents will let you get another. Also if you show them articles that say that they need a conpanian than they might consider it. Just a thought. |

I have had my piggie for... lets see... about 4 1/2 to 5 months. My parents just aren't big fans of animals. But, maybe I could convince them, but that is very rare that they would let me get Moochie a buddie. |

I guess it just all depends on the parents. My friend Jessi begged for like weeks and even wrote a 5 page essay over the proper care of a guinea pig . After a while her parents losend up and let her get her 4th pig. Good Luck with trying to convence. |

It took me over 6 months before my parents finally agreed that I could get another guinea pig. I would bring it up every now & then, in a consistant rational manner. I also printed out all of this page for them to read: http://cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm It eventually got to the point where they could tell I wasn't dropping the subject, & they realised they didn't have any counter-arguments to offer besides, "no more animals." When you're comparing one or two pigs, there really isn't much difference in the finances or amount of care. It's well worth it, to see guinea pigs naturally interacting with each other. |

It would probably be best for you to start a new thread on this hagen. You'd have a better chance of people responding. Why can't you take him to a vet? I know it's the weekend, but there are always emergency vets available. Whatever it is, it sounds pretty serious. How old is he? How long has he been shaking his head? Is this a continuous movement, or does he stop inbetween? |

This is an EMERGENCY. Seek vet attention now. If you don't get vet care, your pig will more than likely die. It could be one of many things wrong with him. |

It seems to me that he is having a nervous breakdown (or a piggy seasure). It does happen. This happened to my friends boar. He was fine and dandy, next thing you know, hes laying with his legs spread out like an airplanes wings. Wheeking and shaking his head. It happens when a sudden change is too much for your little friend. Like, if you get a new piggy from a shelter, and he is in the box that he stays in until he sees his new cage, and leave him in there too long. Very tragic. He needs vet attention. But he may not have what I think he has... |
