Iceberg

Whats the deal with this? Surely its ok fed alongside other nutritional veegies? I know it has no nutrition and is largely water but surely small amounts is ok? I have fed it to my guinea's for the last 15yrs alongside all the other good stuff - i use that shopping list thats about, as they demand it.

I keep being told different stuff about it, some daft person even said it was poisoness! I'd be interested in evidence to back this up...Exotic vets have told me its fine in moderation as long as fed with lots of other veggies

Re: Iceberg

It's no good. You said yourself:

I know it has no nutrition and is largely water

So why would you feed it?

Re: Iceberg and forum attitudes

ok thats it!! I've had enough!!!

a) The iceberg is fed alongside other veggies( i said that!!!!) - they never have diarrhrea

b) Shes not my new breeding friend, seeing it mentioned just made me think about it!! I have responded to her in saying her piggies are lovely. I'm actually pro rescue - instead of being nasty you could gently explain to her

c) everyone's responses here are so nasty and pointed, theres such a thing as tact??? and explaining. You are chasing people away who you could educate by being so harsh!!!

d) why treat people who do not have c&c cages and keep them indoors as awful owners? we're not! I chose not to have a c&c cage as I can give mine loads more space by giving them a waterproof shed-like building that has a constant temperature. I could never use a cage of any sort again.

Actually I dunno why i am defending myself (I know i am an excellent cavy mom to my girls and a sensible person) but I think it needs to be said. People need to be told gently about the best options as far as recuing goes, not shouted at and treated as if they are bad owners. You are chasing people away who you could have converted, with the bulish attitudes.

Guess I'm going to be yelled at now but i couldn't careless, its needs to be said.

Re: Iceberg

It has been said a thousand times. This forum is not some sugar coated place to come and hear what you want to hear to make you feel good about yourself. There are a lot of passionate people around here and they are going to voice their opinions. You just have to suck it up and learn not to be so sensitive.

Re: Iceberg

You think your a good piggy mom??? You have been on this forum for a week or so now---enough time to learn to not support breeding! Enough time to read and educate yourself about what is the proper food and care of guinea pigs. Enough time to learn that housing them outside in a shed and feeding iceburg lettuce is not GOOD CARE.

Re: Iceberg

We are not biased, nor are we mean to those who keep their pigs outdoors in PROPER conditioins. In fact, we aren't mean to those who do not keep them in proper conditions. We simply tell them (maybe with an attitude) that they are not benifiting their pigs. Like babygrl said, this isn't a self-motivation forum where we all go around telling each other, "Wow,your perfect!" or "Wow, what a great idea, breeding!" Some of the more educated members are just rying to give you advice but you simply will not take it! You must have grasped, that iceburg is NOT ok to feed your GP's by now. If you had simply said,"Oh,I'm sorry I didn't know that. But, I disagree that Mp_rules is by "breeding friend"." Then maybe,we wouldn't be having this discussion!
On another thread I stated that I have the assumption that Mp_rules and vlb_21 are the same user. I said this because they have similar user names and are never on at the same time. Now, I am almost sure!

Re: Iceberg

Oh, you are right there are in fact MANY ways to house guinea pigs---does'nt mean they are right, or what is best for the animal.

Re: Iceberg

I personally do not care if you are the same person or not, your beliefs and attitudes towards the care of guinea pigs is one in the same and therefore DO NOT be expecting to make many friends or get support from many of us on THIS forum. You are in the wrong place. . . .

Re: Iceberg

i realise that!! i'm back off to nice friendly places that are not so judgemental.

The way to get a message across like this forum's is not to be so nasty. You all jump to conclusions, assume things and make your opinions before asking about anything.

AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY BELIEFS AND ATTITUDES TOWARDS GUINEA PIGS!! HOW DARE YOU ALL TREAT ME AND OTHERS LIKE THIS!!! MINE HAVE A DAMN SITE MORE SPACE TO RUN AROUND IN THAN THOSE AWFUL CRAMPED C&C CAGES TOO.

oh yes i am shouting its to be heard

Oh please, now you are getting plain STUPID. Maybe it is because we keep our pigs inside where it is nice and warm and they get lots of attention? Probably.

Re: Iceberg

Unfortunetly we do not hear you anyways. Nothing you say really seems to make any sense to us at all, so please by all means, go elsewhere to some where that you "may be heard".
