Question Pigs in the laundry room?

My husband and I are looking into buying a new house, and we finally liked on of the ones we looked at last night. The master bedroom is too small for our bed and the piggie cage, so I was wandering around the house wondering where we could put the piggie cage. The house has a wonderfully large, heated laundry room... big enough for their 10x2 to be expanded to a 12-14x2 or 3. It's also big enough for them to be well well away from the washer and dryer. Good ventilation and all that. I'm curious as to whether I could put them in there, since I spend tons of time doing laundry as it is, and it's right next to the kitchen. Any thoughts would be appriciated.

Re: Pigs in the laundry room?

It sounds like a perfect solution to me. I'm assuming that the floor is linoleum or tile in there, so it would also be easy to clean up if needed should they kick anything out of the cage or if you decide on floor time in there. You might want to consider surrounding the base of the washer and dryer with a cube grid fence, so they can't crawl under the appliances. The only other thing I can think that you might need is a chair in there for the first few loads, so the piggies don't get scared out of their little witts by the noises.

Would it not get too hot and stuffy for them?

That was my thought when we first looked at the house. Apon further investigation there are two windows in the room, and plenty of room for either an A/c unit or an electric heater if it got cold (which I seriously doubt). There is also a blockable vent duct thing for ventilation, so I don't really think so.

Re: Pigs in the laundry room?

Our washer and dryer are on the upstairs landing of our house, and that's where I've put the girls' cage. It works out great. I do a lot of laundry, so I'm always up there loading, unloading, folding, and, now, talking to the pigs. Having them there makes the whole laundry thing a little more enjoyable. And, now my daughter even likes to help out with the folding because she can play with the pigs while she does.
