Question Pig urine?

I was wondering (yes I have a store bought cage with a plastic bottom) if there is anyway to get the stains and smell out of the plastic? In some spots in the cage there is a film on top of the plastic. I am working on getting a bigger cage now. My boss at work has some of the grids....a lot of them. She was using them for T-Shirt racks. I'm going to ask her if I can have them..because now she is not using them and I think they are going to throw them away.

So anways another question about pig urine....tonight when I was cleaning her cage..I let her run around in the bath room with the door shut... (its piggie safe..) Well I went in a noticed that she had peed on the floor. It had a very milky look to it...but it was tinted yellow too. Hmmm..I dont know..just wondering if thats normal. She is about 6 months old. She is getting a little on the chunky side..when should I stop feeding her alfalfa hay? I think its making her fat..and I dont want her to over weight. Ok I thinks thats all for now....thanks for any advice you can offer.

Jennifer

use vinegar in removing urine build up. It really works. Some of my pigs also pee milky white urine. But if has gunks in it, I think you should see a vet.

Meadow hay or timothy hay will be absolutely fine to use now. I usually just switch to an alfalfa based pellet (rather than Oxbow's timothy based one) for piggers under 6 months, I've never switched to alfalfa hay. Alfalfa also has more calcium in, so you may find on switching that her urine becomes clearer.
