Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post?
Question My pigs don't like greens...

I have tried several different veggies and my pigs don't seem to like any of them.

George loves apples and only apples. Superman loves carrots and tolerates apples. Both adore their hay as all good little cavies should, but they seem to be rather picky.

Is this normal? Do I just have weird pigs? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Marie

My Cujo has taken to romaine lettuce - i have tried many kinds, and he only eats part of the greenest leaves. He loves pears, apples, and will sometimes eat grapes. He will nibble on a carrot but truly loves all kinds of hay, (oat hay, timothy, sweet meadow and orchard grass). He also loves fresh grass that I grow in the house. Just keep trying new things and I wouldn't worry as long as they eat plenty of hay.

CavyLover, this is your last warning. Learn to write in half-way decent proper English with punctuation and proper capitalization.

Also, in general, if you really don't have something of value to add, it's best not to post.

Marie, while they may be finicky now about certain foods, you have to keep trying. Give them several (3-4) food items to choose from at each feeding (twice a day, preferably). Sometimes it can take quite a while for them to decide to try and like something new.

Thumbs up

I have also found that Cujo may seem to love something one day and want nothing to do with it another day. Don't give up and just keep trying new things. My last piggie loved clover and grass. Try home-growing some grass and also try parsley. I have started and herb garden with basil, chives, dill and basil, mostly for cooking but I intend to see if Cujo likes fresh dill and chives. good luck
