Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0
Hi, I was wondering if anyone here can tell me how long after Ivermectin treatment do you start to see improvement? We adopted a baby guinea pig three weeks ago, and he was misdiagnosed as having a skin allergy. It now appears to be mites, and the vet gave us Ivermectin to use. Zach got his first dose last night, but we haven't seen any sign of relief at all. He just keeps scratching and biting at his fur. So far, no hair loss, redness, scabs or bleeding, but he's obviously in quite a bit of discomfort. Does it usually take a second or even third dose before the mites die? Thanks. |

Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 You don't see immidiate changes/improvement right after giving Ivermectin. Some might take weeks and is usually followed by another shot after 10 days of the initial shot. You might want to cover your pig with something to keep him from scratching his skin. http://www.guinealynx.info/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8294 Apology for the pic. Just to give you an idea about the wraping. |
