My Decision regarding the female guinea pig

Yesterday was one of the most emotional days I have had. After alot of struggling and heartache, I surrended the piggy back to her teen owner BUT WITH CONDITIONS!!! When the piggie saw her owner she got very excited and looked so happy. The whole weekend she was scared and wouldn't let me touch her to even bath her foot but when she saw her owner she looked happy again. That is when I decided to give the girl another chance. Before I left she was out of the wired cage and into one with a plastic bottom(not a c&c cage yet)but that is a start. She was on her fleece blanket I bought her. I took over some of Lexi's food and hay and told the girl what I expected out her for this piggie. I would have homevisits and I wanted to see a vet bill to make sure she went. She bought some benadine to start healing the foot since vets aren't open until today. I'm suppose to do a home visit and if things didn't change I am suppose to take her back. She agreed. I know some of ya'll disagreed about giving her back and boy I had a lot of struggling(caused me to get physically ill)but I also believe in second chances and giving people a chance to make right what they did wrong. Now if they can't make it right the second time....they have no right to keep the piggy and she is mine. I hope you respect my decision and not get mad at me. Ya'll are great people and have given me alot of great advice about Lexi. Because of you she is in a big cage, has her own fleece bed, eats all the veggies she wants and is just plain SPOILED!!! LOL Now my quest to find Lexi another roomate...

Re: My Decision regarding the female guinea pig

I think you did a wonderful thing, and your conditions sound prefect. Did you give her the link to this website?

I gave it to the woman who runs the rescue I got my new pig from, she was really happy about it.

That sounds like you have absoloutly done the best thing, you should feel proud! The conditions sound great, and people do deserve a second chance, especially since the girl seems willing to change. So well done to you and good luck with finding Lexi a new friend!

Re: My Decision regarding the female guinea pig

They're good conditions, but what if they down right refuse to give her back? Did you make up some sort of contract?
