What type of package...

...does a 50 lb. bag of Oxbow pellets come in? I've been calling Oxbow for an hour now, and their line is still busy. I'm waiting for my shipment, which will probably come in today, and it's raining pretty hard outside. I don't want to miss the delivery person incase the pellets come in some paper-based bag. The last thing I want is 50 lbs. of wet food. Can anyone tell me how they pack their 50 lb. bags?

Re: What type of package...

I am pretty sure the 50lb bag comes in the same type of material as the 5 and 10lb bags. I would try to pick it up as soon as possible, but the rain shouldn't harm the package too much if it is the plastic.

I'm almost positive it comes in plastic.

Re: What type of package...

As soon as I got off of the phone with Oxbow, the UPS guy showed up. The pellets are packed in a paper-based bag. The inside part is regular brown paper and the outside part is thicker white paper. Then the bag was inside of a cardboard box. So thankfully, I was home when it was delivered. Now I just have to make room in my freezer.

Good thing you were there! I thought for sure it was plastic for some reason. You must have a bigger freezer than I do...mine wouldn't even hold a 10 lb bag with all the food I have crammed in it!

Re: What type of package...

I have a small deep freezer, which is basically used to store stuff I use to homecook meals for my dogs. I also keep their deer bones in there when I have some. However, I just bought a ton of groceries a few days ago, so now it's packed. The fridge freezer is pretty full too. So I'll have to wait to freeze some of the pellets when I clear some space. For now, everything is packed into Ziplock bags. I've come to the realization that I need one freezer for the animals and another for us.
