| Re: Yet Another Question about Ivermectin The first one is a paste and must be diluted and given orally. That one is safe to use. The second one is a big NO. You want plain ivermectin (ivomec) and nothing that says "plus" on the bottle. This one http://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.h...2-00b0d0204ae5 is safe to use. The third one, I can't see the picture of the bottle very well, but I would either go with the first one or the link I gave you. Also remember to follow guinealynx dosing instructions to the letter for whichever ivermectin products you do get. It's easy to overdose a pig. You will need an accurate scale that measures in ounces, pounds, grams and kilograms. You will need to know the exact weight of your pigs before dosing. Topical treatment instructions (for the injectible) http://guinealynx.info/ivermectin_topical.html Oral treatment instructions (for the horse paste) http://guinealynx.info/ivermectin_oral.html Also read over this link http://guinealynx.info/ivermectin_treatment.html |

| Re: Yet Another Question about Ivermectin I also have a question about Ivermectin. My girls had mites once before and I took them back to the girl I got them from for an Ivomec shot. Does anyone know why she would give them a diluted shot instead of using it undiluted topically? Does applying a 1% injectible Ivomec solution topically really kill the mites? I purchased Ivomec from valley vet and got it within 2 days so I would recommend them. I haven't used it yet, I am kind of nervous about it. Also what is the best way to sterilize their cages and toys? I clean the cage weekly with water and a clorox bleach towel, should i be doing more? They have lots of floor time on a 52x90 tablecloth, can the mites jump onto the carpet or furniture where they spend time? sorry for the long question, Katie |

| Re: Yet Another Question about Ivermectin You're welcome Spoiled I bought the first one becuase the other two wouldn't even ship to me. I got an e-mail saying they will call me to tell me how much shipping will be. So horse paste HAS to be given orally? I was hoping to do it topically. I'm pretty nervous about oral feeding, if I decide to go through it I will consult you guys just so I don't screw up. As of right now, I don't even know if they have mites, but I'd like to have the stuff just in case. I got a little oinker yesterday and she would squeal every time I'd touch her, and she keeps running away from my other pig (who keeps biting her), so I thought maybe she could have a mite problem. But now it seems that she's getting a little less squeamish and I picked her up and scratched her and she didn't react at all. I haven't seen any scratching from her whatsoever. The only other thing is that she's got really odd fur, she seriously looks like she's been struck by lighting, so it's hard to tell if it's thin or not, especially because she's young. She's probably fine but I want to have the stuff just in case I see anything develop. Thanks for you advice Ly, I appreciate it a lot. |

| Re: Yet Another Question about Ivermectin Yes, horse paste must be given orally. You squeeze out a dose for a 250 lb. horse and then dilute it with 22 cc of propylene glycol, vegetable oil or water. Shake thoroughly then draw the correct dosage up based on weight into a needleless syringe and put it in the back of the piggies mouth and squeeze. Quote:
