Tell me about mites

What should I look for when I inspect my piggies for mites?

See this site guinealynx.info/guinealyn...#mangemite

Also, see the care sites listed at the top of this forum (Cavy Madness and Guinea Lynx).

what to do if ur gpig has mites.

When i first bought mocha- she was covered with mites. (she came from bad pet shop). I went out and bought a spray on medicine that will kill mites, fleas, lice, ticks and other pests. It was called- Ultra Care 8 in one pro.

If u are going to buy something for mites I recomend
u get something like this because it killed them the first time.

hope i helped,

Mites

When you are looking for mites part your gp's hair so that you can see the skin. Wait for a few seconds and just look directly at the skin. Usually within a couple seconds you'll notice something moving on the serface of te skin.

How to avoid mites

So is it best to not take them outside, so they don't get mites?

Re: How to avoid mites

My little buddies go outside all the time and I have seen no evidence of mites. My one pigger had lice when i first brought him home but after a distressing bath.... all is well again.

Go ahead let em play in the grass.

Re: How to avoid mites

You CAN'T SEE mites. They are microscopic. You can only see LICE and FLEAS. MITES must be treated with a drug called ivermectin. It's best to take your guinea pig to a vet to be treated for mites as dosing with ivermectin is tricky.

You can read up here: guinealynx.info/guinealyn...#mangemite

Usually where there are lice, they usually have mites as well. It's best to take your pig to a vet to be treated.
