Exclamation Attn: ALL Members (a must read)

T and the moderators would very much appreciate it if when you start a thread about your pig(s), whether being introduction problems, medical issues or just updates on them, etc., that you keep them all in one thread and not post multiple threads about the same issue.

When following a story on a pig(s), it's really hard having to go back and dig up older threads to get the beginning of the story. Keeping everything together in one thread like they do at gl makes it so much easier to keep track of the pig(s) progress.

I am not picking on you Ryan but I am going to use you as an example. Ryan's pig CC has had foot problems. Ryan posted 5 individual threads on CC's condition, some were just updates but it should have been all posted in one thread. I ended up going back and finding all the threads and merging them together. This enables everyone to refamiliarize themselves with CC's problem and lets newbies get the full and complete story. It also helps greatly on medical threads or on "introduction problems" threads. If you post a medical question then take your pig to the vet, come back and post on your original thread and don't make a new one. The same applies to any thread you start on your pig to address a problem or concern.

Re: Attention all members (A must read)

I also want everyone to take the time and read the updated rules. A couple of new rules were added not long ago and it's important for all members to be familiar with the rules.

Here is the link to the rules:

Re: Attention all members (A must read)

Ly, I had a thread about 2-3 weeks ago about Kawaii's foot problem. I didn't read this and I posted another thread about the updates just now. . . Sorry for not seeing this.

Re: Attention all members (A must read)

Thankyou thankyou Ly! All the different medical threads were really bugging me (GL has me so spoiled!). I felt it was hard for me to jump in and give advice when all the relevant info was scattered all over the place.

Re: Attention all members (A must read)

I wanted to post that another must read for newbies is the posting rules and forum etiquette thread which can be found here:
http://cavycages.com/forum/announcem...nouncementid=7

Everyone needs to learn how to post properly and what the forum rules are so they don't do anything that may result in getting a temporary or permanent ban.

I also want to add that some members are starting to overuse the smileys and if it continues, I will start issuing warnings.

*hangs head low again* I, too, like to use smilies. I'll try and refrain from using them so often.

Re: Attention all members (A must read)

The rule of thumb on smileys is to only use smileys in about one out of 10 posts you make.

Re: Attention all members (A must read)

I want to say something. Recently I have issued some warnings and have received mouthy replies back to those warnings. The mods don't issue them unless rules have been broken. If you are going to post here, post properly. It's not that hard to be consistent and to double check your posts before submitting them to make sure you have capitalized everything that needs capitalizing and to put a dang period or question mark at the end of your sentence. Members are issued only 3 warnings before they receive a week's ban for failure to heed the rules. Everyone is treated the same when it comes to warnings. No one is singled out.

I know if I was issued a warning about something, I would just do my best to heed the warning so that I wouldn't end up being banned. Insulting, ignoring or getting mouthy with the mods can only get members into further trouble. I hate banning people for failure to post properly but it's part of my job as a mod to do so. Don't make the mod's jobs harder and just please follow the simple rules set forth on the forum.

Re: Attention all members (A must read)

Ly, I hope everyone will take this as a warning. Members shouldn't take things so personally. Like we've posted, it's you and the other mods job to enforce the rules. They're there for a reason and we all need to follow them. They're not that hard to follow. Keep up the good work and this goes to all the moderators. I know you all have a hard job and people take it personally and say things that they shouldn't just because they're angry. But I know I'm not the only one that appreciates all that you guys do! No kidding aside.

Re: Attention all members (A must read)

oh my god! why are we anti smileys now?!? Its hard enough to get a real meaning across in text as it is. I like smilies as it emphasises the niceness or happiness (sorry about bad spelling there) I see so many instances where people have jumped down someone elses throat due to a mis-understanding.

We have always been anti-smiley.

Smilies were added as a privilege. They are ment to help portray emotion not decorate posts.

If we had wanted people to overuse them we would not have put a limit on the number we allow per post and disallowed signatures and tag lines.

I would love it if we could give people a monthly allotment of smilies. You get a certain amount and once you use them up that's it until next month. Alas, it doesn't work that way.
