| Re: do you like boars or sows or both? I love any gender of piggy. Both boars and sows have gender specific problems - boars impaction, sows ovarian cysts - so I have no particular reason to love either sex more! |

| Re: do you like boars or sows or both? I like them both. I must say I prefer boars slightly, but that's because of the boar and sow I have right now. My boar runs up to me to be petted, and my sow runs away if I put my hand near her  |

| Re: do you like boars or sows or both? I like both genders. Having had a lot of both sexes I can honestly say boars are cuddlier They are more affectionate than sows and not as shy.. I know there's a few exceptions though - not all sows are shy |

In my experiences: - neutered boars are more placid. - Sows can get a bit feisty when they're in heat. - My sows aren't keen on being touched. - My youngest sow learnt to trust me pretty quickly. Out of my herd, Charlie is the most trusting. Also in another group of one boar and 6 sows the boar is again the most trusting and placid out of them all. Gender doesn't come into it too much when you talk about trust, although it can play a part as with my pigs. Personality is more to do with trust. Quote:

| Re: do you like boars or sows or both? My boar has come around amazingly well after what he went through (seized from a breeder that let her pigs run loose in a barn). My sows are generally more self oriented and prefer not to be picked up. |

| Re: do you like boars or sows or both? I've only had boys... so I guess I like boars!!! The impaction is not fun to deal with, but I'd take that over worrying about cysts any day! |
