Talking Isn't she Cute! (Possible new addition this weekend!)

I am in talks with a rescue group in London, Animal Love Foundation. I have just recieved two emails from the foster mom of this adorable girl.

http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/...?petid=5007553

She is approximately 2 years old, and has been living at the foster home for 3-4 months. I can't believe she has been waiting so long! At least she is in a loving and caring environment, and not sitting in a shelter.

Her personality sounds like a good match with my two, who are now getting along famously! last night it was chilly, so I threw a towel over their log hidyhouse and put some hay on the floor, and they both curled up for the night. It was so cute. I think they really like eachother better then either of them like me! LoL.

Anyway, I am keeping my fingers crossed. I now have a real purpose to hurry up with the expansion of my C&C. Getting more grids tonight. Can't find Coroplast, however I think I have materials on hand to substitute. The foster mom said that she was excited to hear about my "big fancy cage"! I think some CavyCages and Guinealynx sharing is in order!

Her name was Hazel, the foster mom calls her Edna, I think she really suits Hazel though, so I might keep that name.

I emailed my husband at work to prepare him for the drive to London, about an hour away. He is "thrilled" about it. Can't think of a better way to spend his weekend. Oh well, I bribed him with some Rock Climbing lessons if he is good!

I am just too excited to contain this to myself!
Had to share!

Probably because I keep bringing her up! I think it is time to bring her home before someone else does!

Yup, however I have one other like her, only she is a gold-red and white. When I got her from the shelter they had to shave her behind because she was such a mess with mats!

Question Re: Isn't she Cute! (Possible new addition this weekend!)

I thought I posted this earlier, but apparently not.
It looks like Hazel will be comming home with me on Thursday. We are all set to meet her foster mom 1/2 way, and my sister agreed to drive me, even though she thinks that I need a third pig (or any pig) like I need a hole in my head.

Anyway, she has been living alone now for the better part of 4 months, in a home that is taking very good care of her. Do you really think it is nessisary to quarintene her? I have a rabbit cage and a separate room, so It can be done, just it really won't be easy.

Re: Isn't she Cute! (Possible new addition this weekend!)

I'm no expert on this obviously, but what is she has mites that get brought on by the stress of moving? I read somewere that that happens. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Re: Isn't she Cute! (Possible new addition this weekend!)

Personally I would quarantine at least briefly, until you can tell that she is settling in and adjusting well to a new house/smells/people/noises etc....before the added stress of introductions.

I know it's hard to wait though!

And she's gorgeous! I think "Hazel" suits her, too.

Re: Isn't she Cute! (Possible new addition this weekend!)

I defininetly like Hazel better than Edna. (Sorry if anyone has a mom, aunt, etc named Edna... actually, I had a great aunt named Edna, ha.)

Actually, she looks even more like an ice cream Sundae than my Sundae does. ie, chocolate, caramel & vanilla all mixed together.

Adorable, just absolutely adorable. *Shaking head in disbelief that you have waited so long to get her*

She's adorable! She looks a like a mop! I'm sure she'll get along great with your other pigs.

Re: Isn't she Cute! (Possible new addition this weekend!)

Thanks everyone :-) you are all so great.

I am going to keep her separate. I think I am going to set her up in my basement where it is nice and quiet. (Don't panic, it is finnished and serves as our master bedroom). However, I am leanign towards two weeks then three. I find it so hard to believe she has been with this organization for 5 months! And she was listed on petfinder, so it is not like she was a hidden gem. Just sitting out in the open screaming "look how cute and precious I am!" Sadly, there are 10 other female guineas, and at least 5 boys from what I remember also with this organization, (they rescue all animals). I just find it so sad that people in this area would rather buy at petstores then inconvieniance themselves traveling a little.

Pigaroo mamma: I like Sundae, might give that name some consideration. As for the wait, could not be helped. I was hoping to get her this past weekend, but I was told I had to fill out an application first, still would have happened, but they did not mail the application until mid Saturday Afternoon, after checking many times, I went shopping, came home, cooked, and ended up layed up with jalapenio in my eye. (don't ask) very painful. On Sunday I filled out the monsterous form, computer gobbled it up, kids where being their dramatic selves, had to wait for Monday to get form off. So, today I hear back, everything looks good, foster mom is ready to meet me half way on Thursday or Saturday, I wrangled my sister into drivng Thursday, hopefully this little girl with possibly three names will be home soon!! So hard to wait.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and info. It means a lot.
