Sore eye

Hi, I have a question about my abysinnian Meg. Around one of her eyes her fur grows upwards almost into her eye. This is really starting to irritate the eye and it's very annoying for her. I just wanted to know whether it would be ok to trim the fur around her eye or whether there is anything else I could do. Thanks

Re: Sore eye

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I am going to trim it, it's just constantly irritating her now so I think that will be the best thing to do.

Re: Sore eye

Hi, no it's definately her hair, if I had a digital camera I would post a picture of it because it's hard to explain but her fur is growing upwards from her neck and on one side the tips of the fur reach right to her eye. I think this is the side she rests her head when she is sleeping and this is why it's only happening on the one side.

Re: Sore eye

I don't know if in the US or Australia, but can you get some eye drops called Brolene? Our vets recomended it once for a boar who had trouble with his eye ever since we got him. They are a good thing to have at hand if the hair is growing into the guineas eye just incase the eye gets irratated.
They are very good for clearing up eye infection or if the eye gets irratated
