| [font=Century Gothic] Um... hello. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how Guinea Pigs are found sick- and unsick. Please make the "sick" information red, and the "unsick" information blue. I was hoping there would be a lot of help, because my best friend says I take good care of my guinea pig, and she doesn't with her two piggies. She said they're sick. Thank you all- for your help. | Re: How do you tell if your guinea pig is sick or not sick? Hi Acorn, I second what was suggested in the post above. http://www.guinealynx.info/emergency.html It's a great site filled with tons of good information. I have used it often, not only for diagnosing possible illnesses, but for solid information on diets. Cavy illnesses are often difficult to spot in the early stages. It's so important to know the early warning signs *before* the cavy begins to appear sick. |

| Re: How do you tell if your guinea pig is sick or not sick? Quote:
Is he having difficulty breathing? Does he sneeze? Is he hunched over and not moving much ie lathargic? Is he not eating? Does he have a runny nose? Is he in pain when he urinates? Is he peeing excessively, not at all or not pooping at all or have the runs? There are signs of illness that your friend must have mentioned she "thought" she saw. Try to keep in mind that it does not matter if you are keeping good care, or not, things happen. Is it possible this is one of your silly friends who is just playing a trick on you or trying to get up upset, or for anyother reason just being mean? Remember Snickers just went through a move too which could be causing him to be a little skittish or acting a little odd. If you think Snickers is sick, you need to go to a vet ASAP because things can go from bad to worse very very fast with a sick pig. I would try not to even wait until tommorow, let alone until tommorow afternoon. Butonly you can decide if he is sick or not. Not us, not your friend. Hope this helps. http://www.guinealynx.info/emergency.html What happened with the bugs? |

| Re: How do you tell if your guinea pig is sick or not sick? Oh, no. I'm not the one thinking Snickers is sick. She thinks that her piggies are sick. I asked how she could tell- and she said that they're coughing and sneezing, and scattering. I thought- is that normal? So I just turned to you guys. |

| Re: How do you tell if your guinea pig is sick or not sick? The pigs need to go to a Vet NOW. They needed to go there when this started. I am hoping they make it through the night and that if she can't get them their NOW then she can get them there first thing in the morning. It sounds like a definate URI. Follow the link to guinea lynx that was given and try to make your friend understand the urgancy of this. As for the bugs... What is holding up their being dealt with? Please talk to your mother about this and if she has any reluctance, try and get her to post in regards to this. Tell her it sounds like they are Indian moths and if they are, it is very likely they could infest your whole kitchen. And trust me, they are devils to get out once they are in. |
