Will thread harm them?

Nismo is definitely a big chewer, he likes to chew everything. He's chewed chuncks off my hair before and I had to pull it out of his mouth. Lately during floor time, as much as I try to cover the entire play pen with fleece, a little carpet still shows thru on the sides and he always finds a way to get to that carpet and munch on it. So yesterday I put a really big beach towel down instead and he managed to pull out threads and chew on that! Oy Nismo, Back to fleece I go for floor time, I guess I need to put a couple of them down. Will him chewing on random things here and there like little carpet threads or towel threads harm him?

As long as he doesn't swallow too much of it then I'm sure Nismo will be fine. Just chewing them shouldn't harm him, but you do need to make sure he doesn't get any threads stuck in his teeth if he does take a fancy to that behaviour!

No the only thing I've noticed that gets stuck to his teeth are pieces of hay, when he eats the little heads that break apart, I see him picking at his teeth with his little nails for a few seconds, hehe. Other than that, if I see him chewing on something he's not supposed to I'll just give him a little shoo.

Tell me about chewing. If they can get their mouth on it, chomp, chomp. They chew on their fleece hidey houses, its amazing it hasn't been devoured yet. They also munch up any loose threads they can find. I just gave them a cardboard castle hidey house. The entrance way is getting bigger and bigger. I could hear one of my piggies making a feast out of it during the night.

It's a good thing they can't eat their cages or they would be sleeping in our beds.

hehe, I just got Nismo a castle hidey house too, I ended up cutting out a window in the back though, now he loevs jumping in through the window and out the door :P

If he eats too much of the threads from the towels it can bind up in his system. So make sure he can't eat very much of it or any at all.

Could you use something like Bitter apple to discourage chewing with Guineas?
