A new piggy soon! I got in contact with the rescue here in San Diego, weecompanions.com, and the lady who runs the place informed me she would assist me in finding Nismo a buddy as soon as I'm ready. She going on vacation, which is fine because Nismo is still not mite/lice free, so when she comes back he should be ready for a buddy

Re: A new piggy soon! How old is Nismo? If he is under than 1 year old then an older pig would be more likely to get along with him - maybe in the 18 months plus age range.

Re: A new piggy soon! Go with an older pig then. Any older boar should work great with your little guy. Be sure to let us know when you find Nismo a friend!

Re: A new piggy soon! Two baby boars work fine for about the first five months, but then all hell breaks loose when puberty comes! I would definitely try to find a year old boar if you can.

Re: A new piggy soon! Another thought, because of sometimes boy rivalry, would he be better off with a neutered female instead of another boy?

Otherwise, go with an older boar. |

Re: A new piggy soon! OK so dumb me here, I thought spaying and neutering was the same thing, only one for females and the other for males, LOL Now I'm confused.

Re: A new piggy soon! Neutering males is less risky than spaying females. It is less invasive.

Re: A new piggy soon! You neuter males and spay females. If you can find an already spayed sow then go for it. If not, an older boar will be your best option.
