New piggie! This is Rufsan, my boyfriend Sebastian's new pig! Rufsan belonged to a family who had put her in a very small cage (I'm talking 20 x 40 cm here) with only pellets and some cucumber to eat. No hay, no toys, no friends and with a very limited space to walk around. We heard about her through our friends, and Sebastian asked the family if maybe he couldn't take Rufsan, since they didn't seem too interested in her anyway? Turns out it was their son's guinea pig, who had gotten bored with it after 9 months, so they didn't really know what to do with it. So Sebastian got to take her home to live with the other two! Rufsan: (These are the best images from our little "photoshoot". She just runs away!) ![]() ![]() Rufsan with Mary and Robin: ![]() We've had her for just a day, and you can really tell how happy she is to have new friends, and to be able to actually *run around*. She's constantly talking, popcorning and eating hay. The introduction went perfect, Mary and Robin have welcomed her as one in the family. She's still very shy and skittish, but we have patience. The cage is still too small, but me and Sebastian have been talking alot on how to expand it. We've decided to just build a bigger one out of wood and nets, which is the easiest, and cheapest way. We are buying the materials on friday, and with luck, both of the cages (his, and mine) will be done by next week. Sorry for the long post! I'm just kind of excited about this...

Re: New piggie! Absolutely adorable. What type of netting are you planning on using? I noticed you are in Sweden, so I suppose C&C material is hard to come by?

Re: New piggie! Hahaha, that would be me trying to keep her still, smoot Cavies-and-kids, I've looked everywhere for cubes and coroplast, but can simply not find it. And importing it from the US or the UK would be too expensive, unfortunately. We're planning on using galvanized net, which won't hurt my piggies teeth, and it's also very strong so they won't be able to chew themselves through Thanks for the nice comments, everyone!

Re: New piggie! 20 x 40 cm??? That's CRUEL!!! Those people should be punished! It's even smaller than the smallest hamster cage. *fumes* Rufsan must be so happy to be freed from prison. Tell your boyfriend he's a great guy.

Re: New piggie! Teria, it was awful. It looked like one of those really cramped "cages" you use for transportation. Even someone who knows nothing about guinea pigs would find it extremely small for a cavy! The family seemed relieved to give her away, though, they probably understood that that's not how it should be.
