I Think I've Gone Completely Mental - Expanding Their Cage Again

Hello again everyone,

So I think I've gone completely mental, as I'm expanding my three girls' cage again.

Yesterday I was searching around in the closet for some things, and found some extra storage grids, and instantly thought "I've got to expand the cage!" Thing is, they already have quite a big cage, and take up a whole room of their own. Right now they have a 3x7 with a 2x2 bedding section and a 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 little store bough cage loft thing.

So my cage plan is to add a 3x6 upper level with another upper 2x2 store cage level to it that actually has a small upper level of it's own. I'll also make it so that it's able to fold upward for cleaning, and also have a removable ramp, and closing door type of thing, so that it can be easily converted into a cage for the pigs I foster. (Though of course they have a quarantine cage in another room)

When I first made my c&c cage, a few days later i redid it too. Lol. I think we do it because we want our piggies to be beyond happy with their living space. So are you mental? Answer is no. You are just trying to give them the best life any piggy can ask for and more. Good luck with the new design. I hope it works out the way you plan it to and post a pic when it's done. I would love to see how it comes out.

You just gave me a new idea for expanding my current cage. Hmm, now I have to design something to rebuild our habitat. I would love to know how you make the top so that it folds back for cleaning. That would be very helpful.

i'm always finding new ways to change their homes...next is the fleece forrest and extending my upper loft to run all along the 8x2 length.......i think part of it is keeping them from boredom....and having pretty nasty living conditions before being rescued makes me want to love them even more...please show some before and after photos when you're done!!

@MomofTwoBugs The way I plan to do it is to just have the cage kind of resting on top of the lower level supports, but have one side of it zip tied so I can lift it up. It's kinda hard to explain, but I'll post some pics and maybe a video when I'm do with it.

@PigPandemonium That makes sense to me. I think I'll have to see what I can manage when I reconfigure mine. I have 2 girls that are currently living in a 2x4 with a 2x1 loft. I want to give them more room, but I don't want to make it harder to clean under the loft so that's why I was thinking your idea was genius for a loft.

When I have a house of my own, I plan on giving my piggies an entire good sized room to themselves. But that's probably because I want a huge herd xD (I want like 6-7 pigs)

I wish I could expand my 2x4 cage, but my mom refuses to let me buy more grids and getting cloroplast is a huge issue xD
