Re: How Would You Describe C&C Cages?

    - inexpensive
    - Open and roomy
    - Simple to build
    - Fun to decorate
    - Easy to disassemble and move around (The smaller, single level ones at least)
    - Simplistic, modern design that can fit in with any house decor ( depending on the color of plastic, bedding)
    - Healthy (more airflow and room to play)

Yeah, I can't think of anything that hasn't been said. C&C cages are just amazing. There are no downsides to them. They're way better than any other cage you can buy.

Hmmm.....everyone has really hit on the positives, but in the interest of a balanced review, I'm going to list some of the things I don't like about them:

    * They will always look like what they are - grids and coroplast; no mistaking them for fine furniture
    * It's almost impossible to score the coroplast without cutting through both layers
    * Unexpectedly, it seems to absorb some urine & feces odor, especially in the crevices of the folded corners
    * Too versatile - it took months of researching, building and tearing down before I arrived at my current configuration......now I'm going to change it
    * I'm constantly scratching myself as I reach across and into the opposite corners; I'm tall, but I still have to kneel in the cage
    * This thing has taken over my small home office! But, my "kids are within arm's reach and provide so much company while I'm working.

I dunno, I think that one depends on your bedding. With fleece, mine actually looks pretty nice. A little saggy, but I've had people think it was a store-bought cage at first glance, and after I told them what it was made of, they said it was "less ghetto" than they'd think it would be. If I were using other bedding, though, I think it would be pretty obviously coroplast that was being used for the base.

Already been said but my favorite things are how you can make them any size. My cage is 56 square feet. You cannot get a pet store cage that big.
They are easy to remodel. I changed my cage 4 times.
You can build them to fit your space. I needed an L shape at the old house.
    They are just wonderful cages.

Re: How Would You Describe C&C Cages? Love 'Em!

I'm with spy9doc. While I love it's versatility, I got a bun so I too experienced some of his/her pains.

As far as "grid & coroplast", then I got a 6 level high creation of 'wire' with each level having a riser between the next so it's easier for Kitty to run top to bottom & side to side.
Try using the tip of a blade when scoring, worked for me.
About the odor... try cleaning it w/a vinegar & water mixture, then put (clear) tape in the corners/crevices. Easier to wipe up and you can always change the tape provided your cleaning schedule is maintained.
And I'm changing my set up too! 6 high, 2 deep & 3 wide is not satisfying enough for me & the bun. This time though, I'm reinforcing it with pvc pipe framing (if you can call it that). They will hold up the weight of the creation as well as allow me to make everything accessible for cleaning and remodling the next time I get bored in the office or make it more adventurous for Kitty.
Whatever you come up with, remember, it's cool for you.

    Aloha!

Re: How Would You Describe C&C Cages?

I love it! The only down side I feel is having to use cable ties because the connectors are crap. I just remodeled mine again today, went from a 2x4 w/ 1x2 loft to a tri-level 2x4 top and bottom level with a "U" shaped second level. Third level is open top and the second level has removable front and removable interior grids to make cleaning bottom easier. ANYWAY, my fingers are very very sore. I only have two piggies and my youngest is just popcorning all over the place! LOVE C&C cages!!
