    C&C Cage wonder....

I want to make a C&C cage for a couple of Guinea Pigs that I may be getting soon, but the cubes are quite expensive for what I want...
I was wondering if anyone can help me..
I don't know if you have seen Piggiepigpigs recent videos but she has her pigs in only Chloroplast with 9" sides as it's 6mm thick and very sturdy..
I would like to do this, but I have no idea how you could attach your water bottle... Can anyone suggest how you would attach a water bottle onto chloroplast/correx?

I don't think ventilation is very good when you have coroplast up that high. I would highly recommend getting the grids. Have you tried Craigslist or Amazon.com?

You can try to find a bottle hanger like this--
Oasis ArmorGuard Water Bottle Holder GP - Small An Water/Feeders

Or you can poke holes in the coroplast and attach a mini bungee cord.

I often use wide industrial-strength velcro (sticky back) to attach water bottles to a cage, laundry basket or plastic bins (both temporary carriers), etc. Just wrap a piece of the wide velcro around the bottle and on the side of the carrier.

For a larger bottle in the cage, the sticky-back velcro still goes around the bottle, and then thread a regular piece through the grids and around the bottle.

I recently found a flat-back glass water bottle that comes with a holder that I like. I'll see if I can find a pic of it for you.

    I've tried a lot of different places, I can get Proplex 8ft x 4ft sheets 5mm thickness for £10 a sheet.
I am near Manchester area in the UK so I have a lot of shopping centres but they are either overly expensive or not available.
I am just thinking of paying £50 for cubes and making a secure cage with good ventilation but I would rather not have to pay that much

Just something to think about. My girls are raised off the floor and they like to put their feet up on the sides of the coroplast to look out. 9" sides won't allow them to do this. Also when they are on the floor they will feel every vibration in the house, such as the vacuum, etc. and they will always be the prey with everyone towering over them. They will probably get used to it, but I like to try and look at things from a guinea pig's point of view whenever possible. Good luck with your project.

Whistle's cage is on a grid stand and the "top" of his lower floor almost comes to my hips. He loves attention and doesn't mind being hovered over. However, put him on the floor and he is scrambling to find a hiding spot.
So i really think it depends on the pigs comfort level. but they are rodents, most of them will perfer to not be hovered over. Whistles was exposed to the vacuum and various other "predator" like things at a very early point in his life. So he could careless about the vacuum and he knows the dogs and cat won't hurt him. They are also animals with natural instincts so I'm always right next ho him when he is interacting with them.

    Re: C&C Cage wonder....

Thanks so much for the advice, I hadn't thought about how scared they will be being on the floor as with the vacuum and all, and I hadn't thought about how isolate they must get without being able to see out of their cage...
I will look on here for premade cages but don't know where to start but I'll have a good look around
Thanks for converting me, I just wan my potential pigs to have the best life possible
