    Transportation/rolling

Hi people!! I am ordering new coroplast THAY IS 6MM THICK. I have looked up ways to transport it but I'm stumped. I have heard about rolling the coroplast but when people jus post pictures, that isn't helpful for me. Please tell me how you transported yours and actual typed instructions on rolling 6MM thick coroplast. Hope you are all doing well!

    Re: Transportation/rolling

I think mine was 4 mm and the store rolled it for me and used heavy duty tape to hold it. I brought along two belts I strapped around it to keep it rolled up while I drove home. I was imagining it unrolling while I was driving.

    Re: Transportation/rolling

The store should know how to fold or roll it to transport it. You aren't the first to come in for a sheet. If your cage is 2 x 5 (?) the piece you need will be 6 inch side + 28 inch base + 6 inch side = 40 inches wide. the other direction is 6 inch side + 70 inch base + 6 inch side = 82 inches. The piece you need is 40 x 82. Fold it in thirds the long way, tape it together so it doesn't unfold on the way home, and off you go. I hope that helps.

    Re: Transportation/rolling

Most stores sell 4mm Coroplast and I'm told it can be rolled. (My local Sabic swears that it can't be rolled......I suspect that they don't want to be responsible for possible damage). A sheet of 6mm would be even thicker. Unless you are constructing a cage that is 3x????, you can have the coro cut to the size of the main level, as well as a loft (if you are using one) and the cut pieces are much easier to transport. You *can* have a sheet scored so that you can fold it in half, but I don't like to do that.

I made a 4x2 base with a 1x2 loft and got it home in my Corolla with the back seats folded down.

I didn't watch them roll it so I don't know how easy it was to do it. The first sheet I bought I folded and laid it flat with my back seat down and my trunk opened but tied almost closed. If you bend it, it shows when you make the cage. If you roll it, you won't have any fold marks.

    Re: Transportation/rolling

I've folded coroplast, which is much easier than rolling, but then there's the issue of having a long car. You can have them cut it to size (make sure you have correct measurements!) before they roll it; that's one step done for you!

The folding actually works out fine because you hardly even notice the fold marks. Usually one side the fold is more obvious and I use the other side.

My local Sabic also swears it can't be rolled. He was amazed when I showed him how to roll it.

I don't think you can roll 6mm coro. Mine was 4mm.

I think this gallery has step-by-step instruction of the rolling process (click on each picture).

Thank you! Where I live, the cubes are expensive and hard to find. So I am going to make a coroplast cage. I have seen PIGGIEPIGPIGS do it on her YouTube channel. Luckily, my uncle owns a furniture truck so maybe I can borrow it or some how get this. Would it be ok for me to cut the sheet in half? I am making a one level 2 foot by 6 foot since I'm not using cubes?

    Re: Transportation/rolling

In planning your cage, you need to remember that most Coroplast comes in 4'x8' sheets.........which doesn't seem large enough for your planned size? Why would you want to cut the sheet in half? The idea of the coro is to create a leak-proof cage bottom which means that you just score (cut one of the thicknesses) one side of the coro and leave the intact side as the inside of the cage.

Where do you live that cubes are so expensive? If you live in the US or Canada, there are many stores that carry the cubes for about $21 per box.

Actually, I won't be cutting the sheet in half. I will be making sides out of coro. Look on YouTube at piggiepigpigs recent videos. That's what I'm gonna do. I live in Colorado but cubes are expensive.

Did you ask if they have the 4mm? I'd be surprised if they don't, and it should be cheaper than 6mm.

If you can get 4mm, buy that. It's cheaper, sturdy and can be rolled.
