How important IS daily floortime?
I've recently moved into a small apartment. And I do mean small.
My newly "adopted" (dumped by boyfriends mother) piggies just got their 2x5 cage & there's literally NO room for floortime anymore. I've put them on my bed for the last few days & they just sniff around their toys for a few minutes, and lay down by my pillows & nap.
They get more exercise in their cage & exitement when I re-arrange & clean it. Is there a point to try & put them in a tiny space on the floor for the sake of it? Or could they be fine in their cage with only lap time until spring when & could take them out?

Do you have a hallway? I have a tiny appartment too and floor time is in there. Not much space, but it changes Doby from the cage. I have special toys I use only there.
Mr.Wilson is still in quarantine and the floor space I can give him is about the size of a 2x2, but he likes it.
Important is to stimulate their brains too.

We don't usually do much floor time, but I do change up parts of their cage fairly often - they get different hideys every few days, and I swap out their toys too.

Re: How important IS daily floortime?
We experienced floor time the other day for the first time (just adopted 1st piggy last Tuesday). Oh my goodness! She had a ball! She popcorned, flipped, scampered...it was so funny.
My opinion...like it was suggested, if you can utilize a hallway, bathroom, kitchen area for some floor time you surely won't regret it. Pigs will love it and you will enjoy watching!

Re: How important IS daily floortime?
I have a small hallway, but I'm unable to use it for floortime as I can't block it off from my dog. The bathroom has a draft, and I don't want to put them there unless I sanitize it completely every day due to the moisture build up.
They used to enjoy running on my bed, but lately they've found it to be a really awesome mega cozy cup.

Re: How important IS daily floortime?
If you can, some how use a section of your appartment for floor time, your pigs will surely thank you!
For me, I live in a house, but I still sometimes can't find enough floor space bigger than their cage for floor time. My cage is downstairs (fair reasons) and so I have a carpet beside the cage, to make it "cosy" I guess and they just have floor time on there. I will also sometimes take out their play pin and attach it (not literally) to the carpet and put a blanket down and they go running everywhere!
My piggies are pretty good, so they don't go strolling off the carpet when their's nothing to guard it- so that's good
A hallway is definitly a good idea, or how about your living room? Put a blanket down with some towels- if you have carpet- and let them run around there.
A bathroom would work to!
Anywhere there is space a bit bigger than the cage.
Hope this helped
P.S If you can't do this everyday, don't sweat! I don't give my piggies floor time everyday because it's alot of work and they already have a huge cage to begin with. However we do try and give them floor time 3-2 times per a week, or whenever we have enough time. If you can only give them floor time once in a while, thats surly better than nothing

Re: How important IS daily floortime?
Opps I just noticed you already posted something about the hallway and bathroom situation, my bad.
How about the living room, or kitchen (when no one is cooking in it)?
Is there any room in your bedroom to make a small floor time at least? Even if it's smaller than the cage, at least it will give them an opportunity to get a change in surroundings.
