Floortime in a VERY small space ideas?
I have like no room for my piggies to run anymore. I used to put my V-Rocker chair on its side and they'd run around it chasing each other but now I have a desk and bigger cage in my room so they get a small playpen with randomthings to explore but they are bored in about 15 minutes and lay down or try to escape. I have thought about the hallway but it isnt much bigger and dark with no lights. I feel so bad for them! Any ideas on floor time for them?? I have about 6x4.5 ft of space left of my floor and a 10 grid play pen to work with.
No other rooms are options, my mom likes to complain about their presence whenever she possibly can
.
Thanks to anyone who can help

Re: Floortime in a VERY small space ideas?
The whole point of floor time is to present a change of habitat for the pigs and allow time to exercise. That doesn't mean the area needs to be huge, but it does mean you need an area larger than your cage. Have you talked to your mom about working out any kind of deal as to where they can exercise? Have you explained to her just how important this is for your pigs' health and wellbeing?
If she still refuses to let you have them exercise in another area of your house, the area you have now is sufficient, even though it is a tad small.
Do you have a bathroom you use that is kind of large? I have a large-ish bathroom that I use for my pigs, and it works quite well.
Find out why your mom won't let your pig exercise in other areas of your house and see if you can compromise. I don't see why she wouldn't let you. It's a need, like your pigs need love--they NEED exercise!
If all else fails, the hallway is fine. Pigs seem to feel more comfortable in the dark while during floor time--at least my pigs seem to!

Re: Floortime in a VERY small space ideas?
She says it is because the house is too small and she doesn't want to accidentally step on them herself or anyone else. Which I agree they do get under your feet quite a bit. I am with them the entire time but I have almost stepped on them before myself and my moms very clumsy haha.
I think the hallway is my best bet with them. The only other room I could let them go in would be the LR and we have friends and family over alot and I don't have enough grids to piggy proof the area :/ I am going to try and figure out something of a "combined area" like close all doors and make the playpen open up into my room? It would be bigger at least. I don't know yet.
Thanks though!

Re: Floortime in a VERY small space ideas?
I'm using the hallway and part of living room. My place is also small and overstuffed. I try to put things different, that Doby never have in his cage. I have a box with different toys and I use part of them one day, other part another day, so it's not always the same. I've created a labyrinth with cardboard. Just give them what you can.

On nice days you could take them outside. Even if you put down a tarp (shower curtain/blanket) to protect them from contaminated grass or dirt.
I'd stay outside with them. You could put a blanket down for yourself and work on homework or reading or whatever.
When I take Theodore outside I take out his hay too and make sure I put out some water.
