Do my piggies have enough room?

    Hi,
I have two female pigs and I am not sure if i am giving them enough room. I have a pretty small pet store cage that I keep them in at night. But I also have a C&C cage that I keep them in most of the day, I think it is 2x4. On sunny days I put them on the grass outside and put their cage over top of them so they can nibble on the grass. I also let them run around my kitchen (I block it off.)
I wanted to know your opinions, if you think they have enough room or not?
    Thanks

I am curious. If you have a C&C cage why do you use the pet store cage at night?

I was wondering the same. 2x4 is the recommended size for 2 females.

This. I don't understand why you wouldn't just use that as the permanent cage? Why must they stay in a small cage at night?

You can connect the petstore cage to the 2x4 C&C cage and let them be in it all the time, then give them floor time when ever you can.

The 2x4 is still kind of small for 2 (even though it is an okay size, bigger is always better) and if you are taking them and putting them in a small cage at night (which is their most active time!) then it isn't good for them.

My 2 piggies have a huge cage (I'm not kidding! it is like 30+ square feet!) and they love to run laps at night and chase each other around! My old petstore cage is the "bedroom" that has their 2 pigloos and a hay rack and water bottle and is connected by a bridge to the 1x5 "kitchen" and then there is a ramp down to the 3x6 open bottom level! Now I don't expect anyone to go crazy like I did, but my piggies are in heaven and have tons of running room. So if we don't get a chance to give them floor time every day, then I know they are still getting plenty of exercise.

I would suggest just to keep them in the 2x4 all day everyday. No need for the store bought cage. If you give the, the 2x4 all day everyday it would be fine (:

I use a pet store cage at night because I find that the pet store one is more secure, I have cats and dogs who would love to try to eat my guineas. If they are in a cage that is high up ( petstore cage) then I don't have to keep as close of an eye on them as my C&C cage that is o the ground. Sometimes I do leave my guinea pigs in their C&C cage at night.

You can easily cat/dog proof a C&C cage, as well as make a stand for it out of grids. Pigs shouldn't be in a pet store cage *ever*, except for certain situations like quarantine or for use as a hospital cage. Being locked up at night could be anywhere from eight-twelve hours in basically a glorified litter box, and that means your pigs won't be able to run laps for that long as well.

Why not move the C&C cage at night or permanently into a room where the cats and dogs can't get in? If this is a problem then maybe you could look for a lid of some sort to cover your cage...
    Good luck!
