Question Is it possible to get the desired size cage?

I've been thinking. I had planned on building a 2x4 cc, and actually mine comes pretty close. My question is. how is it possible to get it exactly 2x4, 2x5, etc, if the grids are all different sizes? For example, I got my set from Kmart, which were basically like the storage cubes at Walmart, only a little smaller (13.98" and 9/9 holes. Works great. Its tall enough, etc. Now I had planned on 2x4, as I said, but ended up with 27"x47", do to the size of the grids. This has to be the same issue whether you have my size, 14 or 15" grids, because, in order to get a perfect 2' side, you would have to have 12" grids (24inches=2feet). Same as getting the perfect size length.
Do you know what I mean? I hope I am making some sense. The other question is, has anyone noticed this and if so, how do we get a perfect size cage, the one we intend to make?
    Could be I'm just nuts!

When we say 2X4 we are counting in grids.. not feet. I don't know exactly what you mean. If you have a 2X4 cage you have 27" (28" really... but 27" because the coro has to fit within the connectors) by 56".

    Where'd you get the 47"??

    Does this help?
OH! Well that makes more sense So, when using sizing, like you said, 2x4 would mean 2 grids across and 4 grids for length? Well maybe thats why my coroplast is too small(laughing). So, what size coroplast should I get when deciding which cage size I want to create? Not good at math AT ALL!! Not sure how to figure out what size to ask for, for any size cage now uuuhhggg.
    I was thinking 2x4 meant 2feet x 4feet!

WEll you need to shave atleast an inch of each side so it fits inside the connectors. I'd say 27" by ...56".. with 6" sides make it 39"X78". Hope this helps!
