Question Cleaning chloroplast for the first time

Hi everyone again.... I have a couple quick questions....

    1. I am changing my girl's from bedding (Care Fresh) to fleece tonihgt, I have washed the fleece and dried it 4 times. When I clean out the bedding I want to clean the chloroplast. I bought a spray bottle to mix vinegar and water. Should I spray it directly on chloroplast and let sit for a minute, or should I spray on a cloth and just wipe down?? I am really just trying to freshen everything up before putting my fleece down.

    2. I was going to put their kitchen in the second story of the C&C, they hardly ever go up there, and I would like them to use the upstairs of their cage as well as I have read that kitchen upstairs helps with hay all over. Is this a good idea?

    3. I am making them 2 "litter pans" if that's what you want to call them. I have a short rubbermaid storage container we are gonna cut the height down a little on for their kitchen, was planning to line with a little Care Fresh and a little hay, then store their main hay feeder, water bottle and their bowls with pellets and veggies up their. Downstairs I have a metal non-coated 9in. x 9in. cake pan I was going to line the same way with a little Care Fresh and a little hay. I then have a short curved PVC pipe (saw the idea here on the forum) to hold some more hay and a second water bottle. Does this sound like a good set up for my two girls???

Thanks again everyone for your input, ya'll are the best!!!!!!

Re: Cleaning chloroplast for the first time

When I clean mine I use the vinegar/water solution and I have no problem with the smell. I just went to fleece about 2 months ago. I use two layers of towels and so far no problems.
I also just made a 2nd level Kitchen (1x2) that is were I keep there Hay & Pellets, I absolutely love it. They are up and down it alot! I lined a plastic dish pan I got at walmart with carefesh, but the rest of the 2nd level is fleece also. I have had hay racks but my 2 boys seem to LOVE sittin in the middle of the pan eating away. I cut one side down so they can get in and out of the hay box easily. The kitchen does keep the hay from gettin all over.
I like the loft so much I have order more grids and cloroplast to go length wise instead of width, making it a 3x1 up top and 2x4 at the bottom.

I make my spray bottle about 25% vinegar and just spray down all the coroplast and wipe with a cloth, let it dary a few minutes then lay down my fleece. I made cage quilts for my convienience.....mattress pad, batting, fleece sewn together. All one piece helps me be able to clean things faster.

I have a second floor kitchen and it is great for giving them a bit of excersize and keeping the hay in check. My kitchen is actually also fleece but I change that "pad" more of than the rest of the cage.

When I had my c&c cage I had a second level and put their kitchen in it and I loved it less of a hay mess. Also it got all of them go up the stairs before moving their food up there none of them went up it except one curious little guy. Also I love fleece bedding so good for you to change to it! As for the cleaning part I did whatever got it cleaned. If I had to let it sit in an area for a couples minutes I did just that.

FYI: It's called coroplast, not cloroplast or chloroplast.

Just use a cloth, it's a lot neater. Make sure you tuck the edges in so those piggies won't burrow!

I bought a generic spray bottle and filled it with 50/50 vinegar and water. I spray and wipe down each time I clean the cage.
