Babyproofing
My husband and I are considering a C&C cage for our little guys. We are sort of hesitant because we have a really big commercial cage for them and we know they are safe in it.
Our two guinea pigs are 9 weeks old, very small. How can we baby proof a C&C cage?
Also how do you make a lid? I don't think our toddler would reach in there but I'd rather "toddler proof" it as much as possible. She likes to look in at her "giggy piggies" (as she calls them) but our current cage has a door and top.
Also I have seen photos of C and C cages that appear to be sitting on other cubes as a table, how sturdy is that? I like this idea because the table would be like built in storage.

Re: Babyproofing
What exactly IS baby proofing? How do the babies get out?
I like the photos but I need to know what I am trying to prevent...

Re: Babyproofing
The holes in the grids are about 1.5 inches, some babies will squeeze themselves out. You can either overlap the grids to make the holes smaller, or make high coroplast sides, or put cardboard between the coroplast and the grids.
You can also make your cage with closet shelving. Those have smaller space between the bars. Most people use closet shelves to make lids.
