How many cavies can live in a 2x9 grid cage comfortable? Right now I have 4 sows but I was thinking of adopting 2 more in the future. I want them to live comfortable and not in the minimum amount of space. How large of a cage would I need for 6? Thanks |

A 2x9 can house 8 sows or 7 boars. |

I currently have 5 boars in a 22 sf area. They are pretty comfortable, but I wouldn't put more than 6 for sure in my pen. If they get to crowded they tend to fight. For optimal piggy happiness (based on my personal experience alone) I wouldn't go with more than 5 pigs in a 2x9 cage. Good luck. |

If you could widen it out, 3 x 8 or what have you it would be more comfortable too. More room for stuff in the middle and running around around the edges. |

You can easily put 6-8 sows in a 2x9. The rule of thumb is start with a 2x3 for two sows and add another 1x2 area for each additional sow. For boars, you'd start with a 2x4. |

Thanks for the information. I just want to make sure they are happy and not cramped. |
